Mastering languages boosts world wide awareness

“Twenty a long time ago, I could not put two terms alongside one another in English, but I realized that I preferred to be the greatest trainer I could be,” said Loridia Urquiza, 2022 Trainer of the Calendar year at Booker Higher University and Sarasota County Schools’ 2022 District Substantial College Teacher of the Calendar year. “Thanks to this fantastic country, I’m here, so this is not just me – it is all of you.”

Urquiza, who teaches four degrees of Spanish language, moved to the United States from Cuba with a enthusiasm for education and learning that was planted in her infancy.

“The 1960s brought a countrywide Cuban Literacy Campaign whose mission was to teach each Cuban how to study and produce. To arrive at that purpose, they recruited folks who could train how to browse and compose. That provided my mother, who was only 12 a long time old, but she volunteered to participate and due to the fact then she has been identified as “la maestrica” (the little trainer).
