LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Teaching in your hometown is specific. The 10/11 Golden Apple award winner for November has returned to his large faculty to make a change educating agricultural instruction. And he’s attracting learners to a possible position field they may have in no way thought of before.
On a heat fall working day in Fairbury, we found Mr. Thomas Dux in his classroom at the Fairbury Junior-Senior Higher faculty. He was very informal, incredibly talkative and incredibly approachable. It is no marvel he relates so nicely to his learners.
Lexi Mau, a Fairbury sophomore, nominated Mr. Dux for the 10/11 Golden Apple Award. She mentioned he’s more than a teacher to his pupils.

“My father and I have about 25-30 sows and we increase some exhibit pigs for young ones for the fairs,” Dux reported. “We also have some purebred stock that we just take to reveals all over the U.S., so that was a attract coming back again house – staying capable to arrive back again and operate on the farm with my dad.”
Not only is Mr. Dux thrilled to be in his hometown of Fairbury, he’s thrilled about a new place where by he can get the job done with college students on FFA and welding projects, and of class put together them for the long term.
